Heaton Eye Associates is a physician owned MD/OD practice with on-site optical and we are looking to add another full-time OD to our team in Gun Barrel City, Texas! Gun Barrel City is a town of about 10,000 people and is located about an hour outside of Dallas, giving you easy access to airports, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment! GBC is the main hub and access point for visitors to Cedar Creek Lake. In addition to the high level of tourism, Gun Barrel City and the surrounding communities have experienced a residential boom over the past several years, and there is a huge need for optometry in the community.    

Heaton Eye Associates has served the East Texas area for over 40 years and is the region’s largest MD/OD practice.  We offer full technician and scribe support, quarterly production bonuses, and a lucrative compensation package with high-income potential! This is a new office in a growing lake community in short proximity to DFW.  Monday-Friday, no weekends!  Practice offers state-of-the-art technology and services, including primary vision care, pediatrics, oculoplastic, glaucoma, cosmetic, and the only practice in East Texas offering robotic laser-assisted cataract surgery. Located just east of Dallas, this charming area leads visitors to an array of family attractions, historic districts, quaint antique shops, and unique specialty stores. Offering high income potential with a moderate cost of living, strong schools, several colleges, cultural facilities, and abundant outdoor recreational activities.

The physicians of Heaton Eye Associates have been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Heaton Eye offers a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option offering patients freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist as well as the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area. Job Duties Include:

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision tests
• Diagnose defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism, dry eye and glaucoma
• Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient's specific case and medical history
• Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses
• Advise patients on proper eye care techniques
• Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patients
• Pre and post-surgical management
• Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform accurate and consistent manifest refractions
• Understanding of refractive procedures and modern IOL technology
• In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects
• Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer
• The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly
• Attention to detail
• Degree in Optometry
