Job Summary:

Ensure compliance and adherence to policies for patient referrals and co-management. Oversee the process for compliant billing, documentation, provider communication and recall management.  Provide continuous operational support internally and externally, reconcile cases, forms, consents, and provide accurate and up to date referral and co-management reports to the provider team and supporting staff.

The physicians of Heaton Eye Associates have been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Heaton Eye offers a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option offering patients freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist as well as the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area. Certifications/Licensures:

CPB, OCS, or COA preferred but not required

Experience:

5 years experience in ophthalmology or optometry

Education:

Associates degree preferred

Job Duties:

• Accurately track external referrals and co-management and report trends
• Ensure proper documentation for billing and coding
• Provider communications and operational support
• Support external referral growth by educating OD network and their support staff
• Stay up to date with best practices and compliance requirements for co-management.  Communicate with all relevant departments within HEA and our referral network as needed
• Work with clinical and RCM teams to ensure proper documentation for OD co-management reimbursement and compliance
• Provide exceptional customer service and education to mutual patients and referring providers

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Excel and database management
• Ability to multi-task
• Experience in medical billing/coding/EHR
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
