Job Summary:

Serves as support personnel following regulations for the practice of Nursing Assistants including assisting with patient admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties.

The physicians of Heaton Eye Associates have been serving East Texas’ vision needs for over 40 years. We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Heaton Eye offers a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Our surgeons were the first in East Texas to offer the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the only lens implant that allows patients to preview and adjust their vision after cataract surgery. We are the first and only practice in the area offering EVO ICL, another exciting option offering patients freedom from contacts and glasses. Additionally, we have the only fellowship-trained Pediatric Specialist as well as the only Oculoplastic Surgeon offering cosmetic, medical, and reconstructive surgery as well as state-of-the-art aesthetic services in the area. Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:

Completion of Nursing Assistant certification program

Essential Competencies/Performance Expectations:

Clinical Skills

• Demonstrates competency and knowledge of medical records documentation. 
• Uses knowledge of medical record policy and procedures. 
• Assists with rooming, changing and dressing, transport and patient movement within the facility. 
• Participates in medical records QAPI. 
• Identifies vital patient care needs and prioritizes accordingly. 
• Coordinates patient care with other team members. 
• Keeps work areas clean, tidy and properly stocked, free of soiled equipment and supplies. 
• Reports abnormal or unexpected outcomes or observations to RN and/or physician. 
• Collects and records pertinent patient data (vital signs, NPO status, medical history, etc.) as instructed. 
• Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique. 
• Assists provider with procedures as directed. 
• Demonstrates awareness of protocol for malfunctioning equipment and repair. 
• Wears appropriate attire in restricted areas.  
• Adheres to recommended traffic patterns.  
• Demonstrates skill in appropriate use of instruments and equipment. 
• Transports patients to and from the facility. 
• Assists with preoperative patient preparation and postoperative patient discharge. 
• Assists with OR turnover. 
• Cleans, restocks supplies as assigned
