Under the direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Revenue Cycle Billing/Coding Specialist plays a crucial role in the billing process, ensuring accurate medical coding and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position supports efficient revenue operations and helps maintain the high standard of service Heaton Eye Associates provides to its patients.

About the Area
Our East Texas locations in Tyler, Longview, and Athens offer a variety of year-round activities for the entire family. Longview is rich in Texas history and culture, Tyler is surrounded by 25 premier lakes for fishing and boating, and Athens combines small-town charm with the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society.
Experience & Education
- Minimum 4 years coding or billing experience required
- Prefer 3 years of ophthalmology charge coding experience
- CPC required, OCS preferred also
- High School diploma or equivalent
Duties and Responsibilities
- Upload previous day’s charges into billing software
- Review and correct edits as needed
- Post surgery charges for physicians as required
- Conduct audits and reconciliations of billed services
- Generate daily reports
- Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper billing
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and coding changes
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- General knowledge of practice management software (NextGen preferred)
- Proven experience in medical billing or coding
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with healthcare staff
- Positive attitude, dependable, and multi-task oriented
